ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

nash equilibrium

Nash equilibrium is when two or more people are playing a game and both people are doing their best to get the best possible outcome, but they can’t do any better because the other person isn’t allowing it. It’s like a race where both runners are trying to get to the finish line first and no one can go any faster. No one can do any better because if one person changes what they’re doing, the other person can be sure that it won’t work in their favour so they'd better stay the same.
