World War II was a major conflict that happened from 1939-1945. During the war, lots of countries from around the world fought against each other in a very big fight. It was the most destructive war ever, with over fifty million people killed. The two main sides in the war were called the Allies and the Axis. The Allies were made up of Britain, France, United States, Soviet Union and other countries, and were fighting against the Axis, which was made up of Germany, Japan, and other countries. Many people from different countries joined the fight to help their side win. They were brave and risked their lives to defend their country and stop the Axis from taking over.
