Satoshi Nakamoto was the name used by the anonymous person or people who developed Bitcoin, the world's first digital currency. They released the software that makes Bitcoin work in 2009. No one knows who Satoshi really is because they used a fake name to keep their identity secret. They never came forward to reveal themselves and their identity still remains a mystery today.
