Červený Kláštor (monastery)

Červený kláštor, which means "red monastery" in Slovak, is a very old and special place where monks used to live a long, long time ago. It is located in a beautiful area surrounded by pretty mountains and a river. The monastery is called "red" because it was made out of red bricks, which is different from other monasteries that are usually made out of stones.

Once upon a time, monks lived in the monastery and had a very simple and peaceful life. They would wake up early in the morning and pray, then they would work in the gardens, making food, or doing other important tasks. At the end of the day, they would gather in the big hall of the monastery and pray again.

The monastery was not just a place where monks lived, but it was also a place where people in the nearby villages could come and visit. People would come to the monastery to pray, learn about God, and seek advice from the wise monks. The monks were like teachers, guiding people in their spiritual journey and providing them with support and comfort.

The inside of the monastery is very beautiful and filled with special things. There are big, colorful paintings called frescoes on the walls, telling stories from the Bible. These frescoes are like really old and precious pictures that have been there for many, many years.

One of the most interesting things about the monastery is its church. The church is a big, tall building with a pointy roof and a bell tower. Inside the church, there is a big altar where the monks would stand and lead the prayers. The altar is decorated with beautiful statues and colorful stained glass windows, which let the sunlight come in and create pretty colors inside.

Another special thing about the monastery is the library. It is a big room filled with lots and lots of books. The monks would read these books to learn more about God and the world. Some of the books were very, very old and written by important people a long time ago. The library was like a treasure trove of knowledge!

Sadly, the monastery is not inhabited by monks anymore. But it is still a very important and historical place. People from all over the world come to visit the monastery, learn about its history, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The monastery is like a window to the past, reminding us of the important role monks played in society and the rich history they left behind.
