Ł–l merger

Okay kiddo, do you know how some people talk differently than others? Well, some people who live in certain parts of the world talk in a way that makes two letters, ł and l, sound the same. This is called the ł-l merger.

Ł is a letter that is used in some languages like Polish and is pronounced differently than the letter l. But in some parts of America, for example in the Midwest, people say both ł and l the same way. They sound like "ull" instead of "wool" or "ull" instead of "pull."

This is because people's accents are influenced by the way they grow up talking with their family and friends. And sometimes, a whole group of people in a certain area will all start talking that way and it becomes a part of their accent.

Some people like it and think it sounds more natural, while others don't really notice the difference. But either way, it's just one of the many interesting ways that people talk differently depending on where they live.
