ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

-yllion

Okay kiddo, let me explain to you about -yllion.

So, you know how we count numbers, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on, right? Well, sometimes we need to count really big things, like how many stars are in the sky or how many sand grains are on a beach. But counting all of those things can take a lot of time, so we use big numbers to make it easier.

There is a special system we use to create these big numbers, and -yllion is a part of it. -yllion is a suffix that we add to the end of some numbers to make them even bigger.

For example, a million is a really big number, right? But if we want to count even more, we add the suffix -yllion to the end of it, so we get a billion. And if we want to count even more than that, we add -yllion again, so we get a trillion, and so on.

It's like adding extra zeros to the end of a number, but instead of writing all of those zeros, we use -yllion to make it easier.

So, in short, -yllion is a special word we add to big numbers to make them even bigger and easier to count.
