1 Samuel 3
Okay kiddo, so in 1 Samuel chapter 3, there's a boy named Samuel. He lived with a man named Eli who was like his dad. Samuel slept in a special room next to the temple where God's special box, called the Ark of the Covenant, was kept.
One night, Samuel was sleeping and he heard a voice saying his name. He got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am, you called me!" But Eli told Samuel that he didn't call him, so Samuel went back to bed.
But it happened two more times - Samuel heard the same voice calling his name and he went to Eli each time. Finally, Eli realized that it might be God trying to talk to Samuel, so he told him to go back to bed and listen carefully.
The next time Samuel heard the voice, he listened closely and heard God telling him that he had chosen Samuel to be his special helper. And from that day on, Samuel listened to God and did what he was told.
