ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

1200–1300 in fashion

So, a long time ago, around 1200 to 1300, people had a different style of clothing than what we wear today. They didn't have fancy machines to make their clothes, so they had to make them by hand.

For girls, their dress was usually long and went all the way down to their ankles. They would wear a long tunic over the dress that would have sleeves, and it would also be long enough to almost reach their feet. They also wore stockings on their legs and shoes on their feet.

For boys, they wore something called a "tunic." It was a long piece of cloth that would go all the way down to their ankles. They would also wear pants underneath the tunic. They wore stockings and shoes too, just like the girls.

The colors of their clothes were usually bright and vibrant. They would wear colors like red, blue, green, and yellow. They also decorated their clothes with fancy patterns, like flowers or stripes.

People in this time period also liked to wear hats. Boys and men would wear hats that looked like cones, and girls and women wore hats that were round and flat.

The clothes people wore during this time period were different from what we wear today, but they were still very cool and fancy!
