1755 Lisbon earthquake

Okay kiddo, let me tell you a story about something that happened a long long time ago in a city called Lisbon. There was a very big earthquake in the year 1755 which made everything shake and move around.

So, imagine if you were playing with your toys and suddenly the ground below you started to shake and your toys fell down. That's what happened to the people in Lisbon. They felt scared and confused because they had never experienced something like that before.

The earthquake was so powerful that it destroyed many buildings, houses, and churches. It even caused a huge fire that burned down many of the buildings that were still standing. People were running and screaming, trying to escape from the falling debris and flames.

Unfortunately, the earthquake and fire also caused many people to lose their lives. Thousands of people died or were injured, and the city was left in ruins. It was a very sad and tragic event for the people of Lisbon.

But even though this terrible thing happened, people worked hard to rebuild the city. They didn't give up and slowly but surely, they were able to make their city beautiful again.

So remember kiddo, even when bad things happen, we can always work together to make things better. And that's what the people of Lisbon did after the 1755 earthquake.
