1804 Haiti massacre

So, a long time ago in a place called Haiti, there were some people who were in charge of the country. They were called the French and they made the Haitians work really hard for not a lot of money. The Haitians were not happy about this and they wanted things to change.

One day, the Haitians decided to fight back against the French. They went to war and fought really hard. The Haitians ended up winning and they were very happy about that. They wanted to celebrate their victory and show the French that they were not in charge anymore.

But some of the French people didn't like that the Haitians had won. They were very angry and they wanted revenge. So, they did a really bad thing. They went around to all the Haitian towns and villages and started killing people. They didn't care who was a soldier or who was just a regular person. They just wanted to hurt as many people as possible.

This was called the 1804 Haiti Massacre. It was a very sad time for Haiti because many people were hurt and killed. But the Haitians did not give up. They continued to fight for their freedom and eventually, they got it.
