1902 Kosher Meat Boycott

Okay, kiddo, back in 1902, a bunch of Jewish people in New York City decided to stop buying meat from certain stores that weren't following the rules of kosher.

You see, kosher is a special way of preparing food that Jewish people follow. It involves things like making sure the animals are properly slaughtered and not mixing meat with milk.

But these stores were breaking those kosher rules and some people found out. They got really upset because they thought it was disrespectful to their religion.

So, they started a boycott. That means they refused to buy meat from those stores and wanted others to do the same. This way, the stores would lose money and hopefully realize they should follow the rules of kosher.

The boycott lasted for a few months and some people say it helped make those stores change their ways. But it also caused some tension and disagreements between different groups of Jewish people.

Overall, it was a big deal at the time because people were standing up for what they believed in and trying to make a change.
