1968 Democratic National Convention protest activity

In 1968, there was a big gathering of a political group called the Democratic National Convention (DNC). This group was trying to decide who would be their candidate for president. However, some people didn't agree with the way the DNC was doing things, so they decided to protest.

During the DNC, people who were upset with the government's involvement in the Vietnam War and civil rights issues wanted to make their voices heard. They felt that the DNC was not listening to them and that they weren't being represented. So they took to the streets to protest peacefully.

However, not all of the protests were peaceful. Some protesters got very angry and started causing damage to things like buildings and cars. This made the police very upset and they started using force to try and control the situation.

The police even used tear gas and batons to push back the protesters. It was a very violent and scary time for everyone involved.

In the end, the DNC picked their candidate for president, but the protests and violence made a big impact on how people thought about politics and the right to protest. It showed that people needed to be listened to and that protests can bring attention to important issues.
