1999 Seattle WTO protests

Hey there kiddo, let me tell you about what happened in Seattle in 1999. There was a big meeting called the World Trade Organization (WTO) and leaders from different countries came together to talk about how they could make trade between different countries better.

But not everyone agreed with this meeting. Some people thought that the WTO was doing more harm than good and they wanted to protest against it. So they gathered in Seattle and started protesting peacefully.

But things started to get out of hand when some protestors started breaking things and getting violent. The police also got involved and used tear gas to control the situation.

The protest continued for a few days and it became known as the Seattle WTO protests. Many people were arrested and there was a lot of damage to the city.

Some people believed that the protest was an important way to stand up for what they believed in, while others thought it was dangerous and unnecessary.

In the end, the protest had an impact on how people thought about globalization and the power of the WTO.
