ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

1st meridian east

Imagine a big circle around the Earth, like a hoop. This circle is called the Prime Meridian. It helps us measure where things are on the Earth. The Prime Meridian is like the middle of the clock. It helps us tell time, but for maps.

The 1st meridian east is a line that is exactly 1/360th of the way around the Earth to the right of the Prime Meridian. It starts at the North Pole and goes all the way down to the South Pole. This line helps us figure out where things are in relation to the Prime Meridian.

So let's say we want to find a city called Moscow. We can look on a map and see that it's east of the Prime Meridian. Then we can follow the 1st meridian east until we get to Moscow. This helps us know where to find things on a map, like a treasure hunt!
