2 Kings 25

Okay, kiddo, so 2 Kings 25 is a story about a long time ago when there were kings ruling a big city called Jerusalem. The king of Babylon, which was another big city, came and attacked Jerusalem because he was mad at the king there for not doing what he wanted. The king of Jerusalem and his army couldn't fight back very well, so they had to surrender.

The Babylonian king was really mad at the people of Jerusalem, so he made his soldiers break down the walls that protected the city and burn down the important buildings, like the king's palace and the Temple where the people worshipped their god.

He then took a lot of people as prisoners and made them go to Babylon with him. And he chose a new king named Gedaliah to rule over the people who were still living in Jerusalem. But some people still didn't like him and they plotted to kill him.

Finally, after all of the destruction and sadness, the story ends by saying that the new king of Babylon, who was the son of the king who attacked Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple, showed mercy and kindness to the people who were still in Jerusalem.
