2 Samuel 7

In 2 Samuel 7, there is a story about King David wanting to build a special house, called a temple, for God to live in. But God told David that instead of David building a house for him, God would make David's family into a great kingdom that would last forever. Think of it like your parents telling you that instead of you building a playhouse in the backyard, they are going to make your family the rulers of the world! It's a big promise! God also promised to always be with David and his family, and to protect them. David was very happy and thanked God for his promise.
