ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

2001 Japan Airlines mid-air incident

Once upon a time, a really big airplane called Japan Airlines Flight 907 was flying in the sky with lots of passengers. The airplane was moving really fast, like a supersonic rocket, and it was supposed to fly over Alaska, which is a very cold place full of snow and ice.

But something weird happened! For some reason, the pilots didn't realize that they were flying higher than they were supposed to, so they accidentally lowered the airplane's nose, trying to land it on the ground.

However, the airplane was still very high in the sky above the snowy mountains, and it crashed into the air! The passengers inside were thrown around like they were on a roller coaster, and some of them even hit their heads on the ceiling!

Thankfully, the pilots managed to pull the airplane back up into the sky right before it hit the ground, and everyone inside was safe. But some of the passengers were hurt and scared.

The pilots quickly realized what had gone wrong and asked for help from air traffic controllers on the ground. They directed the airplane to a nearby airport, where it landed safely.

In the end, the pilots were praised for their quick thinking and actions that saved the lives of everyone on board. But the incident reminded everyone to be careful while flying and follow all the rules to prevent accidents from happening.
