ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

2019 South Wales paternal sex abuse case

This is a really tough topic to explain to a five-year-old, but here goes:

In South Wales, there was a big problem with a man who was hurting children. He was doing something called "sex abuse", which means he was using his body in ways that were not okay with the children.

This man was caught by the police, and he had to go to court. The court is a place where people decide if someone did something wrong and what should happen next.

Lots of people talked in court about what this man did to the children. It was really sad and scary to hear about.

The man was found guilty, which means the court said he really did hurt the children in a bad way. He was then punished and sent to jail, which is a place where people who broke the rules have to stay so they can't hurt anyone else.

It's important to tell a grown-up if you ever feel uncomfortable or scared around someone, because no one has the right to hurt you.
