Okay kiddo, so you know how when you don't like something you might tell your parents or teacher and they might listen and try to fix it? Well, in Chile, there were a lot of people who didn't like some things that were happening in their country, so they decided to speak up and tell their government about it.
Some of the things they didn't like included not having enough money to pay for basic things like healthcare and education, and feeling like their voices weren't being heard by the people in power. They also didn't like how the government was treating protesters who were speaking out about these issues.
So, a lot of people started protesting in the streets to show their government that they wanted things to change. They would hold signs and chant things like "we don't want to live in misery!" and "we won't stop until things get better!".
Unfortunately, some of these protests turned violent and people started breaking things and setting fires. This made things worse instead of better because it made people afraid to go out and protest peacefully.
The government tried to make some changes to try and make people happy, but some people didn't think it was enough. The protests continued for several months and lots of people were hurt or arrested.
In the end, the government made some big changes in response to the protests, like raising the minimum wage and giving more money to education and healthcare. But it was a difficult and emotional time for many people in Chile.
