2021 storming of the United States Capitol

On January 6, 2021, some angry people decided to go to the United States Capitol building in Washington D.C. They were very mad because they thought that the people who counted the votes of an important election did a bad job. They wanted the election to be reversed and for their favorite leader to become the winner.

But, instead of talking to the people who counted the votes or asking a judge to help them, they went to the Capitol building and broke the doors and windows to go inside. This was not good because breaking someone else’s things is wrong.

They walked around inside the building, took things that did not belong to them, and did some really bad things. People who worked in the building and law enforcement officers were scared and had to hide. Some people were also hurt because they didn’t listen to the police when they were told to stop.

Eventually, some people were arrested for their actions at the Capitol building. It is bad to do illegal things and cause harm to others. It is important to solve problems in a peaceful and safe way.
