2022–2023 Russia–European Union gas dispute

Okay kiddo, so you know how sometimes grown-ups and friends may argue about things they both want or need? Well, countries can do that too sometimes.

In this case, Russia and the European Union (EU) are having a disagreement over the gas that Russia supplies to the EU to power their homes and businesses. Russia wants to charge the EU more money for the gas and also wants the EU to agree to some other changes.

But the EU doesn't want to pay more money or agree to those changes, so they're not sure what to do. You see, the EU relies on Russia for a lot of their gas, and they don't want to be left without it.

So right now, the two sides are talking and negotiating to try to find a solution before the contract for the gas runs out in 2022. If they can't come to an agreement, then the EU might have to find other sources of energy or pay more for the gas from Russia. It's a bit of a tricky situation, but hopefully they'll be able to work it out soon!
