21-Hydroxylase

21-hydroxylase is a special job that some parts of your body have to do. It helps make something called hormones, which are like special messengers that help your body work properly.

Think of 21-hydroxylase like a factory inside your body. It has machines that take a special ingredient called cholesterol and turn it into hormones. One of these hormones is called cortisol, which helps your body handle stress and stay healthy.

But sometimes, there can be a problem with the 21-hydroxylase factory. It might not work as well as it should or it might not be there at all. This can cause a problem with the hormones that should be made, like cortisol and a hormone called aldosterone.

If there's too little cortisol, it can make you feel tired, weak, and sick. And if there's too little aldosterone, it can cause your body to lose salt and become dehydrated.

Doctors can do tests to check if your 21-hydroxylase factory is working properly. If it's not, there are treatments that can help make the missing hormones and make you feel better.
