28 May 1926 coup d'état

A coup d'état is when somebody takes control of a government or country by force. On 28 May 1926 in Greece, a group of people took control of the government. The group wanted to get rid of the government and put a new one in place that they thought would be better for the country. They marched on the government buildings, used guns and other weapons, and forced the government to give up power and agree to the new government that the group wanted.
