Ok kiddo, so you know how we love watching races, right? Well, imagine races where the people who compete are very very important and special. That's what we call royal races.

Now, there are 36 of these races that take place in a kingdom called Thailand. And in these races, the people who compete are not just anyone, they are elephants! Yes, you read that right, elephants!

Elephants are really big animals and in Thailand, they are very important and special. So, during these royal races, the elephants race against each other while their riders sit on their backs and try to urge them on. It's a really amazing sight to see!

The races usually take place during big festivals and celebrations in Thailand, and people come from all over the place to watch them. And guess what? These elephant races have been happening for over 200 years! That's a really long time, right?
