68-pounder Lancaster gun

A 68-pounder Lancaster gun is a big and powerful cannon that can shoot really far and cause a lot of damage. It works kind of like a see-saw, with a big metal tube (the barrel) balancing on top of a support beam (the carriage).

When someone wants to shoot the cannon, they first load gunpowder and a heavy metal ball (the projectile) into the barrel. Then they use a long metal stick (the rammer) to push the ball and powder all the way to the back of the barrel.

Next, they light a fuse that is attached to the gunpowder. The gunpowder explodes, and the force of the explosion pushes the ball out of the barrel really fast. This makes the ball fly through the air and hit whatever it was aimed at with a lot of force.

Because the 68-pounder Lancaster gun is so big and powerful, it was often used in wars a long time ago. But now, most people just use it for things like historical reenactments or as a museum exhibit.
