A Cubic Mile of Oil

A cubic mile of oil is a measurement of how much oil exists in the world. It is equivalent to about 4.9 trillion gallons, which is enough to fill a cube that is 1 mile long in each direction. To put this into perspective, if a cubic mile of oil was poured over an area the size of a football field, it would be 400 feet deep! That's much deeper than an Olympic swimming pool.
