Okay kiddo, let's talk about something called a "rape on campus". You might have heard this on the news or from adults talking about it.
So, you know how we go to school to learn things? Well, there are some people who go to college or university to learn too. Sometimes, bad things happen on these college campuses, like a crime called rape.
Rape is when one person forces another person to have sex without their permission. This is never okay and it is against the law. Just like we have rules in our school, there are rules that everyone should follow called laws, and if someone breaks those laws, they can get in trouble.
Sometimes, people who are in college might experience rape or sexual assault. This can happen at a party, in a dorm room, or in other places on campus. It is very scary and can leave people feeling very hurt and scared.
The good news is that colleges and universities are trying to make sure that everyone on campus is safe. They are creating new rules and policies to try and prevent rape from happening. They are also providing support and resources for people who have experienced rape or sexual assault.
Remember that if someone ever hurts you or makes you feel uncomfortable in any way, you should tell a grown-up that you trust. You should also know that it is never your fault if someone else does something to hurt you.
