ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

ANSI device numbers

Okay kiddo, so imagine you’re playing with a bunch of toys and you want to organize them. You could group them by size, color or their purpose, right?

ANSI device numbers are like a way to organize all the electrical devices we use in a similar way! Each electrical device has its own number so we can easily identify what it does and how it works.

For example, let’s say we have a motor. The ANSI device number for a motor is usually 37. That means whenever we see the number 37, we know it’s referring to a motor, no matter what size or color it is.

This is super helpful when it comes to things like designing electrical systems or troubleshooting problems. By using these numbers, we can easily figure out which device is causing an issue and how to fix it.

So, in summary, ANSI device numbers are a way to organize all the electrical devices we use by giving each one its own number so we can easily identify what it does and how it works. Cool, right?
