ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Abandoned railway

Do you know what a train is? It's a big machine that runs on tracks and carries people or things from one place to another. Sometimes, people used to build these tracks all over the place to help move things from one place to another. But sometimes, they didn't need these tracks any more, and then they became abandoned.

An abandoned railway is like an old train track that isn't used anymore. Sometimes, people don't need it because they found a better way to move things around, like by truck or by airplane. Or maybe, the place where the track was built isn't needed for transportation anymore. So the train tracks become unused and forgotten about.

Sometimes, when the railway is abandoned, nature starts growing all around it. You might see tall grass, bushes, or trees growing right next to the tracks. The tracks might rust or break because they aren't being used, and animals might make their homes there. It can be a bit sad to see something that was once so useful just being left behind, but sometimes, it helps make way for new things.
