Above ground level

Above ground level is a way of talking about how high up something is. It's like when you climb up on the jungle gym and you're high above the ground.

Pilots and people who work with airplanes also use the term above ground level. They use it to tell other people how high they are flying. Instead of telling someone that they are flying at a certain number of feet above the ground, they tell them how many feet they are above sea level. This helps them to stay safe in the sky and avoid things like mountains or other airplanes that might be in their path.

So, when we talk about "above ground level," we are really talking about how high something is compared to the flat ground below it. It's a way to measure height and keep track of where things are in the air.
