Abraham Robinson

Okay kiddo, so Abraham Robinson was a really smart man who figured out a new way to do math. You know how we use numbers to add, subtract, multiply, and divide? Well, sometimes those numbers don't always make sense when we use them in certain situations.

For example, have you ever heard of infinity? It's a really REALLY big number that goes on and on forever. But when we use normal math with infinity, it gets really confusing and doesn't always work out the way it's supposed to.

Abraham Robinson came up with something called non-standard analysis, which is like a new set of rules for how we do math. With these new rules, we can use infinity and other really big or really small numbers without getting confused or making mistakes.

Robinson's work was so important that now lots of people use his ideas to do math in lots of different ways. And that's why he's remembered as one of the smartest mathematicians in history!
