Abundance estimation

Abundance estimation is the process of figuring out how many of certain things there are. It might be used to figure out how many animals are in a certain area, or how many trees there are in a forest, or how many stars there are in the sky. To do this, people try to count every single one that they can find and keep track of how many they find until they have counted as many as they can.
