Abuse is when someone hurts or mistreats another person. It can be physical (touching someone in a way that hurts them, hitting or shoving), verbal (yelling or name-calling), emotional (making someone feel sad and worthless), or sexual (involving any type of unwanted or forced sexual activity or contact). Abuse can also be when someone doesn't take care of someone else like they should, like a parent not feeding or clothing their child or not taking them to the doctor when they are sick. Abuse is not okay, and it's important to tell a trusted adult if you are feeling abused or if you see someone else being abused.
