Academic careerism

Academic careerism is when someone tries to have a successful career in academia. That means someone might try really hard to get good grades in school, publish research in important journals, and become a professor at a college. They might also try to get awards and recognition to build their resume and make themselves more attractive to universities that are looking to hire academics.
