ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Academic elitism

Okay kiddo, academic elitism can be tricky to understand, but I’ll explain it in a simple way for you.

Do you know how some people think they are smarter or better than others just because they went to a fancy school or have a high degree? Well, that is what academic elitism is all about.

These people believe that their education makes them superior to those who haven’t had the same opportunity or experience. They might think that their opinions or ideas are worth more because of their education, and others should simply listen and follow what they say.

But just because someone has had more education, it doesn’t mean that they are necessarily smarter or better than anyone else. Everyone has their strengths and talents, regardless of how much schooling they’ve had. And it’s important to respect and value everyone’s opinions and ideas, regardless of their education or background.

Remember, intelligence and knowledge take many shapes and forms, so never let anyone make you feel less than them because of their academic credentials. We are all important and valuable in our own unique ways!
