ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Accepted and experimental value

Okay kiddo, so whenever we do something in science, we want to know what the answer should be. That's called the "accepted value". It's like the teacher giving you the answer to the question before you even try to solve it.

Now, let's say we try to do the same thing ourselves (like solving a math problem) and we get our own answer. That's the "experimental value".

So, after we have both the accepted value and our own experimental value, we check to see if they're the same or different. If they're the same, then we did a good job! If they're different, then we need to figure out what went wrong and try again.

Does that make sense, kiddo?
