ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Accident classification

Accident classification is like putting things into different groups based on how they happened. So, when an accident happens, people try to figure out what caused it and then they group it with other accidents that were caused by similar things. That way, they can understand why accidents happen and create ways to prevent them.

There are many different types of accidents, like car accidents, workplace accidents, and home accidents. When an accident happens, people will look at the things that led up to it, like what people were doing or what tools they were using. Then, they group the accident with other accidents that had similar causes.

For example, if someone falls down the stairs, the accident might be classified as a "falling" accident. If someone gets burned while cooking, the accident might be classified as a "fire" accident. If someone gets into a car accident because they were texting and driving, the accident might be classified as a "distracted driving" accident.

By classifying accidents like this, people can learn more about why accidents happen and they can create rules or guidelines to help people avoid them in the future.
