Acoustic attenuation

Acoustic attenuation is like a wall that stops sound from traveling far away. When sound travels through the air, it gradually gets weaker and weaker as it goes further away, just like when you drop a rock in a pond and the ripples slowly get smaller and smaller as they move outwards. Acoustic attenuation is what makes it so that you can only hear things that are close to you, and not people talking on the other side of the world.
