Active matter

Active matter is like a bunch of tiny living things that can move on their own without any help from outside. It can be anything like bacteria, cells, or even robots! They move around by using energy from their surroundings, like the food they eat or the batteries they have. And because they can move around on their own, they behave in some really interesting ways! Just like when you have a bunch of toys that can move on their own, they might bump into each other, and the way they move can change. Scientists study active matter to understand how all these tiny things work together and how they can be used to do things like clean up pollution or create new materials. Pretty cool, huh?
