ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Actual sin

Actual sin is when someone does something bad or wrong, like lying or stealing or hurting someone else on purpose.

It's different from original sin, which is something that all people are said to be born with because of something that happened a long time ago in the Bible. Actual sin is something that we do ourselves, and it's seen as something that separates us from God.

Actual sin can be big or small, but it's always something that we do that's wrong. It's like when you know you're not supposed to eat all the cookies in the cookie jar, but you do it anyway.

When you do something that's an actual sin, it's important to say sorry and ask for forgiveness. This can help you feel better and help you be closer to God.
