Actuarial notation

Actuarial notation is a way of writing things down, like equations (but numbers, symbols, and letters instead of words), that actuaries (people who measure risks in insurance or other financial areas) use to figure out things like how much money builds up over time from savings or investments. That way, actuaries can help people make decisions about their money. Actuaries also use actuarial notation to predict how likely it is that something bad (like an accident) might happen.
