ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Adaptive capacity

Adaptive capacity means being able to change or adjust to different situations. It's like being able to put on a raincoat when it starts raining, so you don't get wet. People and animals have adaptive capacity because they can learn how to do things differently when they need to. For example, if someone moves to a new place where the weather is very different, they might have to learn how to dress differently or how to find new foods to eat. Having a good adaptive capacity can be really important, especially when things change quickly or unexpectedly.
