Adaptive mutation is when our bodies can change or mutate to better adapt to the environment around us. It's like putting on a new coat when it's cold outside, or taking it off when it's warm. Our bodies do this to survive and stay healthy.
Sometimes, when a certain environment is harsh, our cells need to change to survive. They may change their DNA to produce a new protein that helps them survive in that environment. It's like learning a new skill to adapt to a new situation.
Adaptive mutation happens when cells change their DNA on purpose- like on a mission to adapt! This can happen in bacteria, which can really quickly reproduce and therefore develop mutations quickly.
These mutations can happen over generations and generations, like when our ancestors developed lighter skin when they moved to places with less sun. Over time, our bodies learn and adapt to our surroundings to keep us healthy and alive!
