ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Adipocytes

Adipocytes are little cells in our bodies that store something called fat. Have you ever heard of fat before? It's a type of substance that our bodies make when we eat too much food.

When we eat more food than we need, our bodies store the extra food as fat, kind of like a backup energy source. The adipocytes hold onto this fat so we can use it later when we need it.

Adipocytes are really important for our bodies because they help keep us warm, and they give us energy when we don't have enough food to eat. But, it's also important to remember that having too much fat is not good for us and can make us unhealthy.

In summary, adipocytes are little cells in our body that store fat which is important for our health but having too much fat can be unhealthy.
