Administrative divisions of Myanmar

Myanmar is a big country, and it is divided into smaller parts to make it easier to manage. These smaller parts are called administrative divisions. Just like how a cake is divided into slices, Myanmar is divided into different slices called states, regions, and union territories.

States are like big slices of cake that have their own government. There are seven states in Myanmar, and each one has its own name, flag, and capital city. For example, the state of Shan has its capital at Taunggyi, and the state of Kayin has its capital at Hpa-An.

Regions are like smaller slices of cake that are controlled by the central government. Myanmar has seven regions, each with its own name, flag, and capital city. For example, the region of Yangon has its capital at Yangon City, and the region of Mandalay has its capital at Mandalay City.

Union territories are like tiny slices of cake that are controlled by the central government. There is only one union territory in Myanmar, and it is called Naypyidaw Union Territory. This territory has its own flag and capital city – Naypyidaw – which is also the capital city of Myanmar.

So, just like how a cake can be divided into slices, Myanmar is divided into different administrative divisions to make it easier to manage. Each division has its own name, flag, and capital city. This system helps the government keep track of everything and make sure that everyone in the country is taken care of.
