Adrenal gland

The adrenal gland is a tiny organ in our bodies that helps us to deal with stress. It looks like a small triangle and it sits on top of our kidneys, kind of like a little hat.

Whenever we feel scared, or nervous, or excited, our bodies release a special hormone called adrenaline from the adrenal gland. Adrenaline is like a signal to our body that tells it to get ready to deal with something important.

For example, if we see a scary dog, our adrenal gland will release adrenaline, which will make our heart beat faster, our breath get quicker, and our muscles tense up. This helps us to run away or protect ourselves from danger.

The adrenal gland also helps us to keep our energy levels up. It releases other hormones like cortisol, which helps us to break down food and turn it into energy that our body can use.

So, the adrenal gland is like a tiny superhero in our bodies, helping us to stay safe and giving us energy when we need it.
