ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Adult Protective Services

Adult Protective Services (APS) is like a superhero that protects grown-ups who need help because they can't protect themselves.

Just like how parents take care of children, APS helps make sure that grown-ups who are at risk of being hurt, abused, or neglected have everything they need to be safe and healthy.

These grown-ups could be elderly people, people with disabilities, or people who are sick and can't take care of themselves. Sometimes, they might not even know they need help, but APS will still try to take care of them.

If someone sees that a grown-up is in danger, they can tell APS and they'll come to save the day. They'll talk to the grown-up to make sure they're okay, give them help if they need it, and make sure they're safe from harm.

APS is like a shield that protects grown-ups who can't protect themselves. And just like how superheroes are really important, APS saves lives and makes the world a better place for everyone.
