ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Adventitiousness

Have you ever noticed how a plant can grow a new branch or leaf in a place where it doesn't normally have one? This is called adventitiousness! It's like the plant is being creative and coming up with new ways to grow.

Sometimes, plants can grow these new branches or leaves from places other than where they normally grow, like from the stem or even the roots! This can happen for many reasons, like if the plant is damaged or if it's trying to reach for more light or water.

Just like when you try something new and unexpected, adventitiousness can be exciting and helpful for a plant's growth!
