ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Aes uxorium

AES Uxorium is Latin for "wife's property". It's a special type of property that a woman owns, which is different from property owned by her husband.

You know how you have your own toys, and your brother or sister has their own toys? It's kind of like that. A wife has things that belong only to her, just like her husband has things that belong only to him.

Back in ancient Rome, when this term was first used, husbands often controlled almost everything in a marriage. But aes uxorium gave women a little more power. It meant that whatever the wife owned was hers and couldn't be taken away by her husband.

So basically, aes uxorium means that a wife has her own special things that her husband can't touch. It's like having your own secret stash of candy that nobody else can eat!
