ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Aesthetic relativism

Aesthetic relativism means that different people have different opinions about what is beautiful or pleasing to the eye. Just like how some people like different types of food or different colors, people can have different ideas about what they find attractive or aesthetically pleasing.

For example, one person might think that bright colors and bold patterns are beautiful, while another person might prefer more muted tones and simple designs. Neither opinion is "right" or "wrong" - they're just different.

This idea can be applied to all sorts of things, like music, art, fashion, and even different cultures. In one culture, certain types of music might be considered beautiful, while in another culture, different types of music might be more popular.

So basically, aesthetic relativism means that people's preferences for what they find visually pleasing can vary from person to person and from culture to culture.
